We have reached the final text in the series 'Equity Starts with Evidence'. A manifesto on the true role of science: to be present, to see what the world ignores, and to transform what seemed immutable.

We are launching a new cycle at the Institute for Research in Priority Populations (IRPP), now dedicated to the incarcerated population, and with it, the series 'Equity Begins with Evidence' is born. This series is inspired by the practice and challenges of those who believe that science needs to be where life is most complex and where equity is still a path to be built.

This excerpt reflects on the importance of presence as the foundation of equity in science. It argues that transforming realities requires constancy, listening, trust, and commitment to the most vulnerable territories. More than producing innovation, science needs to ensure that existing knowledge, diagnoses, and treatments reach those who need them most. Ultimately, true transformation occurs when science ceases to be a spectator and chooses to remain.
